What is APA?
APA is a shareholder owned not-for-proft program group that was founded in 1973. Headquarted in Collierville, TN, APA currently has 48 shareholders, 18 TruStar members, 300+ locations, 400+ retail stores, and creates over a half-billion dollars of buying power annually. In addition to being a founding shareholder of NEXUS North America and member of NEXUS Automotive International (N!) trade groups, APA is a member of the AutoCare Association, Import Vehicle Community, and Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA).


What is TruStar, and how is it different from APA?
APA and TruStar are both part of the same organization, designed to support independent warehouse distributors at different stages of growth.

  • APA is built for larger distributors (shareholders) with multiple locations and higher purchasing volume.
  • TruStar is designed for smaller distributors (members), often with one or two locations.

Both offer access to benefits, with APA providing a higher level of return and involvement.


Who can join APA or TruStar?
Independent warehouse distributors in the automotive aftermarket are eligible to apply. Placement in APA or TruStar depends primarily on business size, purchasing volume, and growth potential.


How do I know if I qualify as a shareholder or a member?
applicants are guided through this during the application process. Generally:

  • Larger distributors with multiple locations qualify for APA shareholder status.
  • Smaller or single-location distributors typically join as TruStar members, with the opportunity to grow into APA.

What’s the process to apply?
you’ll complete a simple application and provide some business information. The APA team will review your application and walk you through next steps.


How mare decisions made?
APA is governed by a board of directors comprrised of elected shareholder principles.


Who is APA/trustar's supplier partners?
APA currently partners with 92 preferred and approved suppliers, representing over 119 product lines, ranging FROM AC, HEATING, AND COOLING to Wipers and motors.


Who are the primary cutomers of Apa shareholders and TruStar members?
Apa shareholders and members cater to the professional TECHNICIAN carrying brands that offer quality parts at reasonable prices.


How does the rebate structure work?
shareholders earn rebates based on their purchasing activity through APA programs and partners. Rebates are paid annually.

Yes, TruStar is often a starting point for growing distributors. As your business expands, you may become eligible to transition to APA shareholder status.


What does it take to “graduate” to APA?
Growth in purchasing volume, number of locations, and overall business scale are key factors. The APA team works with you to determine when the timing is right.

What kind of support does APA/trustar provide?

You’ll go through a structured onboarding process to get set up with programs, tools, and vendor connections so you can begin seeing value as quickly as possible.


How quickly can I start accessing benefits?
Many benefits begin shortly after onboarding is complete, with rebate opportunities building over time based on participation.


Will joining disrupt my current operations?
